GAINESVILLE, Florida, October 7. Gator Swim Club’s Hannah Burns, the fifth-ranked swimmer out of Florida and 28th overall in Collegeswimming.com‘s class of 2015, will be staying close to home for college after verbally committing to the University of Florida.
Burns attends Columbia High School in Lake City, Fla., and can contribute in a bunch of different events for the Gators next season. She’s posted a 4:11.32 in the 400 IM, 2:12.80 in the 200 breast, 16:29.10 in the 1650 free and a 2:00.37 in the 200 IM, to name a few. She’s also strong in the mid-distance freestyles, with a 1:48.47 in the 200 and 4:48.99 in the 500 to her credit.
Burns’ best times are already fast enough to score points at the SEC Championships; her 400 IM would have made the A final in 2014, while her 200 breast (B final), 200 IM (C final) and 1650 free (17th place) also would’ve garnered points. She’ll join a talented IM group next year that includes Lindsey McKnight, Ashlee Linn, Jessica Thielmann and others.
