H2Okie’s Forest Webb Stays Local With Verbal to Virginia Tech
NEW COMMIT: Laurel Fork, Va. native Forest Webb has announced his verbal intention to stay in-state and swim for the Virginia Tech Hokies as a member of the class of 2023.
Webb competes year-round with H2Okie Aquatics and has earned the Winter Nationals standard in the 100 back. He most recently competed at NCSAs this summer where he finished sixth in the 50m back, 14th in the 100m back and 20th in the 200m back. At ISCA Junior Nationals in March, he won the 50 back and finaled in three other events.
Webb also swims for Carroll County High School and was the 100 back runner-up and placed fifth in the 200 free during his junior season at the VHSL 4A State Championships. He has improved significantly over the past two seasons, shaving three seconds off his 100 back and 11 from his 200.
He told Swimming World:

His best times include:
- 50 back – 23.12
- 100 back – 49.71
- 200 back – 1:51.30
- 200 free – 1:41.50
- 500 free – 4:39.00
Webb will join a talented Hokie backstroke group when he arrives in Blacksburg for the 2019-20 season that includes Sam Tornqvist, Alex McMurry, Connor Doyle and future classmate Will Koeppen. Virginia Tech finished sixth in the team standings at the 2018 ACC Championships.
