Gregorio Paltrinieri With 1500 Free World Best in Italy
Gregorio Paltrinieri clocked a world best in the men’s 1500-meter free at the Italian Nationals.
Paltrinieri clocked a time of 14:43.87, clearing the 14:44.09 set by Mack Horton just last week at the Australian Championships, cutting more than 10 seconds from Paltrinieri’s previous season best of 14:58.49 from the City of Milan Trophy meet.
Samuel Pizzetti took second tonight in the 1500 free with a 15:14.74 with Simone Ruffini earning third in 15:18.70.
Marco Orsi, who ranks fourth in the world with a 21.96 in the men’s 50-meter free, won the finale in 22.07. Luca Dotta took second in 22.12 for 10th in the world rankings with Federico Bocchia placing third in 22.28.
Arianna Castiglioni moved to 11th in the world with a 31.15 to win the women’s 50-meter breast. Martina Carraro placed second in 31.18 with Michela Guzzetti finishing third in 31.52.
Alice Mizzau won the women’s 200-meter free in 1:57.37 to move to 12th in the world rankings. Chiara Masini Luccetti took second in 1:57.86 with Erica Musso earning third in 1:58.65.
Federico Turrini topped the men’s 200-meter IM in 1:59.90 with Davide Cova placing second in 2:01.58. Giorgio Gaetani took third in 2:01.98.
Arianna Barbieri hit the wall in 28.44 to win the women’s 50-meter back. Elena Gemo clocked a 28.65 for second, while Laura Letrari took third in 28.87.
