PHILADELPHIA – Greg Wriede, the head swim coach at Peddie School in New Jersey, watched his athletes fight through a lot of adversity last week at the Eastern Interscholastic championships, and they were rewarded with dominating win in the boys’ meet and a runner-up performance on the girls’ side.
In this video interview after the conclusion of this year’s meet, Wriede discusses the grit his girls’ team showed in racing Germantown Academy in the 400 free relay to close the meet. He said his role was to make sure the ladies had “no regrets” in terms of how they swam that relay, and he was pleased with the result. He also talked about the boys’ team and the hard work they put in this past season to avenge the 7.5-point loss they suffered last year. “We were on a mission,” Wriede said, and he was excited about Peddie’s future, given that many of the athletes are underclassmen. Next year’s goal is to crack the 500-point barrier, he said.
Way to go peddie!!! Ala viva!! Class of 87 is very proud!!!
