Great Britain’s Abbie Hurst Announces Commitment to Utah
NEW COMMIT: Tring, England breaststroker Abbie Hurst has announced her commitment to the University of Utah and will join the Utes in the fall of 2019.
Hurst does her club swimming with Millfield Swimming in Somerset, Great Britain. She most recently competed at the Bulgarian National Championships in June where she finaled in all three breaststroke distances. She achieved 100% lifetime bests at the Edinburgh International Swim Meet in March and finaled in three events. Hurst also earned a bronze medal in the 50m breast at the British Championships in August 2017, becoming the first-ever swimmer from her club to medal in that event.
In LCM, her best times include:
- 50m breast – 33.01
- 100m breast – 1:11.52
- 200m breast – 2:40.58
- 50m free – 29.41
In SCY, those times convert to:
- 50 breast – 28.94
- 100 breast – 1:02.93
- 200 breast – 2:22.59
- 50 free – 25.91
When she suits up for Utah as a member of the class of 2023, Hurst will add valuable depth to their breaststroke group and will have two years of overlap with Grace Horvath. Her best 100 breast time (converted to yards) would’ve scored in the C-final of the 2018 Pac-12 Championships.
