Grace Oglesby, the Kentucky state record-holder in the 100-yard fly and 50-yard free, has announced her early verbal commitment to swim at the University of Louisville.

Oglesby, considered one of the nation’s prized recruits in the class of 2016, hopes to fill the void following American record-holder Kelsi Worrell’s final season of eligibility in 2016.

Oglesby trains at Cardinal Aquatics in Louisville, so her commitment will keep her close to home. As a junior at North Oldham High School, she blistered a 51.75 in the 100-yard fly and won the 50-yard free with a 22.92 at the Kentucky High School State Championships.

She’s a well-rounded swimmer who will provide strength in individual events and relays. Her times are already impressive:

Event              SCY                 LCM

50 FR              22.92              27.43

100 FR            50.71              59.33

100 FLY          51.75              1:00.75

200 FLY          1:56.32           2:16.65

100 BK           55.76              1:05.20

200 BK           2:02.77           2:26.69

200 IM           2:02.59           2:29.88

Oglesby landed on Louisville after a series of visits and research over the past few months, according to her coach Amy Albiero.

“She wanted to start the process early so she would not miss training come the start of her senior year,” Albiero said. “She has big goals leading into 2016.” Oglesby has already achieved an Olympic Trials qualifying time in the 100-meter fly and is less than two seconds off the 200-meter fly time of 2:14.99.

Louisville finished fourth at the women’s ACC Championships and 6th at NCAA Championships.
