Grace Nuhfer Sets S13 200 Fly World Record at TYR Pro Swim Series
Paraswimmer Grace Nuhfer set the world record in the S13 200 butterfly on Friday at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Sacramento.
Nuhfer, swimming alone in the B final of the 200 fly, went 2:22.78. That trounced the record held since 2018 by Carlotta Gilli of Italy, at 2:24.07. Nuhfer had tied for ninth in 2:27.64 in prelims.
Nuhfer won a silver medal at the Paris Paralympics in the 100 fly, finishing behind Gilli. The 200 fly is not contested in the Paralympics, with only one butterfly event for each class, over 50 meters or 100. She has held the American record in the S13 200 fly since the fall of 2023, when she went 2:30.38 in her first paraswimming appearance. It is the first world record in Nuhfer’s career.
Nuhfer also went 1:04.63 in the 100 fly to finish sixth in the B final and 2:35.23 to finish 29th in the 200 individual medley at the Pro Swim Series stop in Sacramento. The native of Indianapolis, 22, just wrapped up her senior season at the University of Akron.
