NEW COMMIT: Princeton University has earned a new verbal commitment* for the fall of 2023 from Junior National qualifier and talented backstroker Grace Black of Baltimore, Maryland.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am extremely thrilled and honored to announce my verbal commitment to the application process at Princeton and will attend if admitted. A huge thank you to my coaches, family, and friends for the constant support! I can’t wait to further my athletic and academic career with such an incredible team! Let’s go Tigers!!???

Black trains year-round with the legendary North Baltimore Aquatic Club and collected three medals at the ISCA International Senior Cup back in the spring: gold in the 200 back, silver in the 100 back and bronze in the 200 IM. Last summer, she placed 25th in both the 100m and 200m back at the Speedo Summer East Championships.

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 25.75
  • 200 back – 1:57.52
  • 100 back – 54.66
  • 200 IM – 2:02.86
  • 400 IM – 4:21.04
  • 200 breast – 2:22.95

Black is a rising senior at Bryn Mawr School.

She will make an immediate impact both individually and on medley relays. Black’s top time in both backstroke events would’ve scored in the A-final at the 2022 Ivy League Championships while her 200 IM would’ve placed in the B-final.

*IVY LEAGUE DISCLAIMER:* A “verbal commitment” does not guarantee admission. An Ivy League coach cannot guarantee admission but can only commit support in the admissions process.
