Goldmans Endow Stanford’s Director of Men’s Swimming Position
STANFORD, California, March 21. STANFORD Athletics announced today that Marcia and John Goldman have made a gift to establish the Goldman Family Director of Men's Swimming.
Skip Kenney, who recently led the Cardinal to its 30th-straight Pac-10 title, is headed to the NCAA Championships starting on Thursday.
"This is the biggest honor in my coaching career," said Kenney, whose teams have never finished lower than fourth at the NCAA meet. "This will not only honor all former Stanford swimmers, but protect all future Stanford swimmers. This is the ultimate meaning of the word 'team.' All of us wish to thank John and Marcia Goldman."
"We are deeply appreciative of the vision and generosity of the Goldman family," said Jaquish & Kenninger Director of Athletics Bob Bowlsby. "Their gift to the swimming program will provide strength in perpetuity and ensure that generations of Stanford swimmers will continue to receive the extraordinary coaching and leadership that has been the hallmark of the program."
John is a 1975 graduate of Stanford's Graduate School of Business. Additionally, he is a long-time athletic department volunteer and is a past chairman of the Stanford Athletic Board.
