Germany Proposes Law to Make Doping a Criminal Offense

BERLIN – The German government is set to propose a new law that could send German professional athletes to prison for using performance-enhancing drugs. The law is set to be presented today in Bundestag and will be sent to Parliament in the spring.
Athletes found to be using performance-enhancing drugs could face up to three years in prison. Doctors providing drugs and foreign athletes caught doping in Germany could also face prison sentences.
