Georgia Tech Secures 2020 Verbal from Irish Junior Record Holder Sean McNicholl

NEW COMMIT: Georgia Tech has gained a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2020 from Dubai, UAE’s Sean McNicholl.

McNicholl does his club swimming with Hamilton Aquatics Dubai under head coach Ash Morris and most recently competed at the Irish Open where he recorded a best time and registered four second swims. He is the current Irish Junior record-holder in the 50m fly and has earned two silvers and two bronzes at the National meet. McNicholl represented Ireland at the European Youth Olympic Festival where he was a semi-finalist in the 100m back and has been selected to attend the 2019 European Junior Championships in Kazan, Russia.

He told Swimming World:

“I’m delighted to announce my verbal commitment to Georgia Tech for the fall of 2020! I chose this program because of the immediate connection with the team, coaching staff and university. The facilities are outstanding, and the career pathways are second to none. I’d like to thank my family, team, school, coaches and friends for helping me along this journey. I can’t wait to be a Yellow Jacket, bring on 2020”

In LCM, his best times include:

  • 100 free – 51.93
  • 200 free – 1:54.78
  • 50 fly – 24.71
  • 100 fly – 56.26
  • 50 back – 26.90
  • 100 back – 58.02

In SCY, those times convert to:

  • 100 free – 45.33
  • 200 free – 1:40.43
  • 50 fly – 21.62
  • 100 fly – 49.39
  • 50 back – 22.91
  • 100 back – 49.60

McNicholl’s versatility will be extremely valuable for Georgia Tech when he arrives in Atlanta as a member of the class of 2024. He’ll add his talents to training groups that’ll include Austin DanielCaio Pumputis and Kyle Barone.
