Georgia State 100 Breast Record Holder Alicia Henry Verbally Commits to Cal for 2021
NEW COMMIT: The University of California, Berkeley has recently scored a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2021 from Alpharetta, Ga. breaststroker Alicia Henry.
She will join Stephanie Akakabota, Elizabeth Cook, Melanie Julia, Shelby Suppiger, Ella Mazurek, Annika McEnroe, Jessica Davis, Mia Kragh and McKenna Stone as a member of Cal’s loaded class of 2025.
She told Swimming World:

Henry, one of the top breaststrokers in the class, swims year-round with Dynamo Swim Club and owns the Olympic Trials cut in the 100m breast. She recently was the 100 breast runner-up at the Southern Premier Invitational and earned bronze in that event as well as took eighth in the 200 breast at Juniors East in December.
At the Speedo Eastern Classic in January, Henry broke the 31-year old Georgia LSC 100 breast record which was held by former American Record holder Mary Ellen Blanchard with an impressive time of 1:00.20.

The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American is a six-time Georgia 6A State Championship finalist. As a junior, she broke her own state record in the 100 breast and placed sixth in the 200 IM. She earned gold in the 100 breast and silver in the 200 IM during her sophomore season and took fifth and 11th, respectively, in those events as a freshman.
