Georgia Scores First 2026 Verbal From Backstroker Virginia Hinds
NEW COMMIT: The University of Georgia has opened its Class of 2026 recruiting with a bang, earning a verbal commitment from Olympic Trials qualifier Virginia Hinds out of Chevy Chase, Maryland.
Hinds will be part of the Bulldogs’ Class of 2030.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue to swim and study at the University of Georgia!!! I would like to thank my coaches, family, and friends who have all helped make this possible. Also, a big thank you to Coach Stef, Fernando, and Jerry for this opportunity!! GO DAWGS”
Hinds does her club swimming with All Star Aquatics and specializes in backstroke, and she’s one of the top backstrokers in her class. She earned three top-10 finishes at Richmond Futures this past summer after competing at Olympic Trials. She earned three gold medals at the ISCA International Senior Cup during the spring.
She also placed fourth in the 100 back and 18th in the 200 back at Juniors East last December.
Her best times include:
- 100 back – 52.87
- 200 back – 1:55.95
- 200 free – 1:47.61
- 100 free – 49.78
- 50 free – 23.50
Currently a junior at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, Hinds won the 100 free and 100 back at the 2024 Maryland 3A/4A State Championship. She won the 100 back and took third in the 200 IM at the state meet during her freshman season.
