Georgia Pulls Out of Diving Invite, Dual Meet Due to COVID-19 Protocols

The University of Georgia announced on Monday that it will be pulling out of an upcoming meet due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

The brief statement from the university lists the diving team’s withdrawal from this week’s Tennessee Diving Invitational, which began Monday.

Tennessee’s Diving Invitational was already pared down to just seven teams, with LSU, NC State and Virginia dropping out (for reasons unspecified on the Tennessee release). Georgia’s withdrawal limits the field to seven teams in the meet that runs through Thursday. Alabama, Auburn, Missouri, South Carolina, Wisconsin and Miami (Ohio) are still slated to compete.

Georgia’s next scheduled meet is Jan. 22 against Tennessee at Gabrielsen Natatorium. Georgia’s men’s team is ranked 14th in the nation in the latest CSCAA poll. The women are ranked 12th.
