Georgia Lands In-State Verbal Commitment from Fourth-Generation Bulldog Ava Kennedy
NEW COMMIT: The University of Georgia has landed a new in-state verbal commitment for the 2021-22 from fourth-generation Bulldog and sprint freestyler Anna Kennedy of Athens, Ga.
She will arrive on campus as a member of the class of 2025 along with Briana Roberson, Hailey Galbraith, Duné Coetzee, Mia Abruzzo, Lily Gardner, Mary Martin, Elsa Fretz and Rachel Stege.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“Once a bulldog always a bulldog… I am so excited and proud to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Georgia! I’m honored I get to continue my swimming and academic careers as a fourth generation bulldog. I would like to thank my coaches, family, and teammates as well as UGA swimming for giving me this amazing opportunity. GO DAWGS! ?”
No stranger to UGA’s program, Kennedy swims year-round with Athens Bulldog Swim Club and is a Junior National qualifier in the 50 free. She most recently finished seventh in the 50m free at Cary Sectionals after racing her signature event at Juniors East in December. Last summer, she recorded three best times at Georgia LCM Seniors en route to finishing fifth in the 50m free.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.56
- 100 free – 52.11
- 50m free – 26.87
- 100m free – 1:00.22
Also competing for Athens Academy, Kennedy is a four-time Georgia 1-3A State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American was the 50 free runner-up and placed fourth in the 100 free as a junior while taking fifth and eighth, respectively, in those events during her junior season.
