BAIE D’URFAE – The University of Georgia’s swim team will add another Canadian to its roster next year, with today’s verbal commitment from rising breaststroker James Guest.
Guest competed at this summer’s junior Pan Pacific championships in Hawaii, where he finished fifth in the 100 breast and sixth in the 200 breast. He notched a lifetime best 1:02.79 in the 100 breast at the meet, and was off his lifetime best of 2:15.21 with a 2:16.46. At last year’s junior world championships in Dubai, he was 10th in the 200 breast with a 2:16.45 and also competed in the 50 breaststroke.
Georgia will need a strong breaststroker next season to help fill the gap left by the graduation of Nic Fink, though current Bulldogs Gunnar Bentz and Chase Kalisz are equally up to that task.
