Georgia Bulldogs Snag Verbal Commitment from Eva Merrell

NEW COMMIT: Eva Merrell has verbally committed to the University of Georgia. Merrell, from Newport Beach, California, is a senior at Crean Lutheran South High School and trains with Aquazot Swim Club.
A USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and a NISCA All-American, Merrell did not participate in the California High School state championships last spring. She did swim through the end of sections where she won the 100 fly (52.51) and the 100 back (53.12) at the Southern Section Division 2 Championships. She is the section record holder in both of those events.
Her best SCY times are:
- 200 Back 1:52.20
- 100 Back 52.26
- 100 Fly 51.93
- 100 Free 48.51
- 50 Free 22.26
This summer Merrell was a member of Team USA at World Junior Championships. At the Arena Pro Series Mesa stop last spring Merrell won the 200 back.
She wrote on social media,
“I could not be happier to announce my verbal commitment to swim at the University of Georgia!!! This is a dream come true and I am so excited to be a dawg. I want to thank my coach Todd, my parents & my siblings, and of course everyone involved for helping me make this decision. I am so honored to be given this opportunity & GO DAWGS!”
Merrell joins a Bulldog class of 2022 that now includes Dakota Luther, Madison Homovich and Olivia Carter.
