Georgia 4-5A State Champion Olivia Della Torre Stays Local With 2022 Verbal to UGA
NEW COMMIT: U.S. Open qualifier Olivia Della Torre of Watkinsville, Ga. will stay close to home for her college career after verbally committing to the University of Georgia beginning in the fall of 2022.
Her older sister, Danielle Della Torre, is currently a senior on the Bulldogs’ roster. She will also join Heidi Stalkfleet, Elizabeth Isakson and Emma Norton as a member of the Bulldogs’ Class of 2026.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Georgia! I would like to take my coaches, family, & friends! Go dawgs!!!”
No stranger to UGA’s program, Della Torre trains with Athens Bulldog Swim Club and recorded four top-16 finishes at Cary Sectionals back in March after collecting two gold medals at Georgia Seniors last December. In Summer 2019, she finaled in five events at Georgia LCM Seniors.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 24.05
- 100 free – 52.70
- 100 breast – 1:04.45
- 200 breast – 2:19.53
- 100 fly – 54.06
- 200 fly – 2:05.88
- 200 IM – 2:04.04
- 400 IM – 4:28.95
Currently a junior at Oconee County High School, Della Torre is already a four-time individual Georgia 4-5A State Championship finalist. She won both the 100 fly and 200 IM as a sophomore while taking second and third, respectively, in those events during her freshman season.
Georgia finished fourth overall in the team standings at the 2020 SEC Championships, just 1.5 points behind Kentucky.
The Bulldogs are also bringing in a large and talented Class of 2025 that includes Hailey Hicks, Angharad Evans, Ava Kennedy, Briana Roberson, Hailey Galbraith, Duné Coetzee, Mia Abruzzo, Lily Gardner, Mary Martin, Elsa Fretz and Rachel Stege.
