Georgia 1-3A State Champion Emma Norton Will Stay In State, Verbals to Bulldogs for 2022
NEW COMMIT: The University of Georgia has picked up their first verbal commitment for the Class of 2026 from in-state Junior National qualifier Emma Norton of Acworth, Ga.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am exited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Georgia! I want to thank my family, coaches, friends, and teammates for helping me achieve this goal!! GO DAWGS!”
A talented backstroker and sprint freestyler, Norton does her club swimming with Marietta Marlins, Inc. and earned two best times at Juniors East last December after recording three top-8 finishes at Georgia Seniors. In Summer 2019, she recorded four best times at Georgia LCM Seniors where she placed fourth in both the 50m free and 100m back.
Her best times include:
- 100 back – 56.21
- 200 back – 2:02.82
- 50 free – 23.71
- 100 free – 52.28
- 200 free – 1:51.71
Currently a junior at Mount Paran Christian School, Norton is already a four-time individual Georgia 1-3A State Championship finalist. She grabbed gold in the 500 free and bronze in the 50 free as a sophomore while taking second in the 500 free and fourth in the 200 free during her freshman season.
Georgia finished fourth overall in the team standings at the 2020 SEC Championships, just 1.5 points behind Kentucky.
The Bulldogs are bringing in a large and talented Class of 2025 that includes Hailey Hicks, Angharad Evans, Ava Kennedy, Briana Roberson, Hailey Galbraith, Duné Coetzee, Mia Abruzzo, Lily Gardner, Mary Martin, Elsa Fretz and Rachel Stege.
