Gamecocks Earn First 2021 Verbal from Three-Time South Carolina 4A State Champ Makenzy Mills
NEW COMMIT: The University of South Carolina has scored their first verbal commitment for the fall of 2021 from in-state standout Makenzy Mills of Lancaster, S.C.
Mills, who owns the Winter Juniors cut in the 100 fly, does her club swimming with Upper Palmetto YMCA Stingrays and recently earned two best times at Juniors East. This past summer, she registered four top-12 finishes at South Carolina LCM Seniors and raced four events at YMCA Nationals last April.
Regarding her commitment, she said:

Her best times include:
- 100 fly – 55.32
- 200 fly – 2:06.65
- 200 IM – 2:07.04
- 400 IM – 4:29.46
- 100 back – 56.29
- 200 back – 2:01.76
A current junior at Lancaster High School, Mills is a six-time South Carolina 4A State Championship finalist. She won the 100 back and 100 fly as a junior while placing first in the 100 back as well as third in the 200 IM during her sophomore season.
