Futures Silver Medalist Conor McKenna Verbally Commits to Princeton
NEW COMMIT: Princeton University has received a new verbal commitment* for the fall of 2022 from Olympic Trials qualifier Conor McKenna of Frisco, Texas.
He will join Lucas Strobek of Hellerup, Denmark as a member of the Tigers’ Class of 2026.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I’m excited to announce my commitment to the application process at Princeton University! I can’t thank my parents, teammates, friends, and coaches enough for their support throughout this journey. Go Tigers! ?”
Primarily a butterflyer, McKenna trains year-round with Lakeside Aquatic Club and placed 14th in the 200m fly at Olympic Trials Wave I earlier this month. He was also the runner-up in both the 100 and 200 fly at the 18&U Winter Championships – NT LAC in December.
In August 2019, he earned silver in the 100m fly at Des Moines Futures.
His best times include:
- 100 fly – 47.93
- 200 fly – 1:45.02
- 50 free – 20.80
- 100 free – 45.66
- 200 free – 1:40.39
- 500 free – 4:33.00
A rising senior at Wakeland High School, McKenna is a five-time Texas 5A State Championship finalist. He won the 100 fly and placed third in the 200 free as a junior while taking first and fifth, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.
He has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for his efforts in the pool and in the classroom.
