NEW COMMIT: After originally verbally committing to Southern Illinois University, Omaha, Neb. native Rylee Trojan has decided to remain close to home for her college career after committing to to the University of Nebraska, Omaha.

She will join Heidi Lenarz and Hailey Matthews as a member of the Mavs’ Class of 2025.

She told Swimming World:

“After much consideration, I have made the decision to stay closer to home and withdraw my previous verbal commitment from Southern Illinois University. With that being said, I am extremely excited to announce that I have decided to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of Nebraska Omaha! I would like to thank the Southern Illinois staff for offering me the opportunity to swim at their program. I would also like to thank Coach Todd and Coach Jess for allowing me a spot on their team, I could not be more excited and grateful to swim for them! Go Mavs️?”

Trojan, who does her club swimming with Greater Omaha Aquatics, is a Futures qualifier who most recently earned five best times at Jenks Sectionals last month after competing at the 18&U Winter Championships in December.

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 56.74
  • 200 fly – 2:09.39
  • 100 back – 58.87
  • 200 back – 2:05.14
  • 200 free – 1:56.56
  • 500 free – 5:11.45

Also competing for Omaha Marian High School, Trojan is a seven-time individual Nebraska State Championship finalist. She finaled in the 100 fly and 200 IM as a senior while taking fifth in the 500 free and eighth in the 200 free during her junior season.

Trojan will make an immediate impact on campus next fall as she would’ve been the team’s fastest 100 butterflier last season.
