Futures Qualifier Jonah Herring Chooses The College of New Jersey
NEW COMMIT: The College of New Jersey has received a commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Futures qualifier Jonah Herring of Bellingham, Wash.
He told Swimming World:
“I’m excited to announce my commitment to continue to study and swim at TCNJ for the next 4 years! I’m grateful for everyone who has supported me along the way, especially my coaches, friends, and family.”
A versatile swimmer, Herring trains year-round with Bellingham Bay Swim Team and last competed at the Washington Open in January where he swam away with three best times. He had a stellar showing at Pacific Northwest Seniors last December where he recored three top-15 finishes earned 100% lifetime bests at Pacific Northwest LCM Seniors in Summer 2019.
His best times include:
- 400 IM – 4:06.86
- 200 Back – 1:54.86
- 200 Fly – 1:55.55
- 100 Back – 52.54
Herring has been swimming for BBST for eight years and was named team captain during the 2019-20 season. He is currently a senior at Sehome High School where he holds a 3.99 GPA.
With times already at the top of their roster, Herring will make a huge impact in a number of different events when he suits up for the Lions as a member of the Class of 2025. He would’ve scored in the A-final of the 100 back and 400 IM as well as the B-final of the 200 back and 200 fly at the 2020 Metropolitan Championships where The College of New Jersey finished second in the team standings.
