Futures Qualifier Hannah Carmen of Machine Aquatics Verbals to Drexel
NEW COMMIT: Drexel University has received their first verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Futures qualifier Hannah Carmen of Vienna, Virginia. She plans to study mechanical engineering during her time with the Dragons.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m so incredibly excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Drexel University!! Thank you so much to my friends, family, and all of the amazing coaches I’ve had over the years. Go Dragons!”
Carmen, who does her club swimming with Machine Aquatics, most recently competed at the NCSA Championships where she earned five best times and finaled in two events. She also placed 23rd in the 400 IM at NCSAs back in March before going on to finish fifth in the 1000 free at Christiansburg Sectionals.
Her best times include:
- 200 IM – 2:07.84
- 400 IM – 4:23.91
- 200 back – 2:04.64
- 500 free – 5:04.57
- 1000 free – 10:32.64
Also competing for James Madison High School, Carmen raced to fifth in the 500 free at the Virginia Class 6 State Championships as a junior after taking 16th in that event during her sophomore season. Last season, she was the runner-up in the 500 free and took eighth in the 200 free at the Northern Region Championships.
Carmen is a great pickup for the Dragons, as she would’ve ranked No. 1 on their roster last season in the 200 back, 200 IM, and 400 IM.
