Futures Qualifier Delaney Burns Commits to In-State Nittany Lions
NEW COMMIT: Futures qualifier Delaney Burns of Berwyn, Pa. has committed to in-state Penn State University and will arrive on campus in the fall of 2022.
She will join Morgan Bagnall and Krista Marlin as well as twin sisters Catherine and Julia Meisner as a member of the Nittany Lions’ Class of 2026.
She told Swimming World:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Penn State University! I’d like to thank my family, coaches, and friends for supporting me through this whole process. WE ARE!!”
Burns does her club swimming with the Upper Main Line YMCA and most recently earned three best times at the Potomac Marlins Winter Classic last month. Last year, she raced two events at the TYR 18&U Cup – Richmond and finaled in three events at the YMCA Virtual Festival.
Her best times include:
- 200 free – 1:53.01
- 500 free – 5:02.10
- 1000 free – 10:20.23
- 100 fly – 56.77
Also competing for Conestoga High School, Burns placed 10th in the 500 free at the Pennsylvania 3A State Championships as a junior. She finished third in that event as well as sixth in the 200 free at the PIAA District 01 AAA Championships in 2021 as well.
