NEW COMMIT: The University of Idaho has picked up a new verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Futures qualifier Bethany Rahn of Sarasota, Florida.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m super stoked to say that I’ve committed to swim and study at the University of Idaho! I want to my supportive parents and both my swim families, the Sarasota Sharks and WYNS, along with everyone else who has helped me on this incredible 9 year journey. GO VANDALS”

Rahn does her club swimming with the Sarasota Sharks and most recently recorded four best times at the Florida Summer Senior Championships where she posted six top-10 finishes, including a fourth-place showing in the 200m fly. She finaled in the 200m fly at Southern Zone Sectionals in February before going on to take fifth in both the 50 and 100 free at Florida Seniors – South in March.

Her best times include:

  • 100 free – 52.60
  • 200 free – 1:52.05
  • 500 free – 5:03.37
  • 100 fly – 57.77
  • 200 fly – 2:07.10

Also competing for Riverview High School, Rahn raced to 12th in the 200 free as a junior at the Florida 4A State Championships. She also anchored the 4×50 medley relay that earned silver.

When she lived in Wisconsin, she placed sixth in the 200 free and 12th in the 500 free as a sophomore at the Wisconsin DI State Championships. She broke the WVC conference record in the 500 free as a freshman, breaking it again as a sophomore en route to being named the league’s swimmer of the year.

Rahn is a great pickup for the Vandals both individually and on relays. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 200 free as well as the B-final of the 100 free and 100/200 fly at the 2021 Western Athletic Conference Championships.
