Futures Finalist Mia Nagle Gives Rice First 2022 Verbal Commitment
NEW COMMIT: Rice University has picked up their first verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier Mia Nagle of Copley, Ohio.
She told Swimming World:
“I am so proud and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at Rice University! I would like to thank my parents, coaches, teachers, teammates and friends for their support throughout this process. I would also like to thank Coach Seth and Coach Jessica for providing me with the opportunity to swim for such an amazing school and program. Rice is truly a special place and I cannot wait to call Houston home in the fall of 2022. GO OWLS!!!?”
A talented breaststroker, Nagle does her club swimming with Firestone Akron Swim Team and most recently picked up seven best times a Lake Erie Seniors earlier this month. She won the 200 breast the Spire 18&U Winter Championships in December and placed eighth in the 100m breast at Geneva Futures in August 2019.
Her best times include:
- 100 breast – 1:03.35
- 200 breast – 2:18.08
- 200 IM – 2:08.72
Currently a junior at Firestone Senior High School, Nagle is a five-time Ohio State Championship finalist. She placed fifth in the 100 breast and 13th in the 200 free in 2021 while taking 10th and 13th, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
She will overlap with Saloni Dalal, Arielle Hayon, Morgan Bartley, Sydney Morgan and Megan Schultze in Houston for three years.
Under head coach Seth Huston, the Owls finished second overall in the team standings at the 2021 Conference USA Championships.
