From Club Teammates to College Teammates, Aggies Get 2021 In-State Verbals from Clayton Conklin & Seth Reno
NEW COMMITS: Texas A&M University has done a stellar job with in-state recruiting for the 2021-22 season and beyond, recently picking up a pair of verbal commitments from current club and high school teammates Clayton Conklin and Seth Reno, both League City, Texas natives.
Conklin and Reno will join fellow in-state standouts Trey Dickey, Munzy Kabbara and Tyler Hulet in College Station as members of the Aggies’ class of 2025.
CLAYTON CONKLIN
A talented sprinter, Conklin swims year-round with South Shore Sails and owns five Junior National standards. He most recently competed at College Station Sectionals where he finished 10th in the 50 free after earning four lifetime bests at Juniors West. Last summer, he notched 100% best times at Austin Sectionals and won the 200m free at Southern Zone Seniors.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I’m excited and humbled to announce my verbal commitment to Texas A&M university. I can’t wait to begin furthering my swimming career and education wearing maroon and white! I wanna thank all my family, coaches, and teammates for pushing me this far! Gig’em”
A current junior at Clear Falls High School, Conklin is a three-time Texas 6A State Championship finalist. He took fourth in the 100 back and 100 fly in 2020 and won both of those events at the UIL 6A Region 06 Championships.
His best times include:
- 50 free – 20.39
- 100 free – 44.57
- 200 free – 1:41.17
- 50 back – 23.79
- 100 back – 49.46
- 100 fly – 48.64
SETH RENO
Like Conklin, Reno does his club swimming with South Shore Sails and has achieved three Junior National cuts. He recently grabbed bronze in the 50 free and earned a pair of best times at Juniors West in December. He competed in four events at Austin Sectionals last summer before going on to have a strong showing at Southern Zone Seniors.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I’m so excited and grateful to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and swimming career at Texas A&M. I’d like to say thank you to all my teammates, family, friends, and coaches who have helped me get to this point in my swimming career! Gig ‘em”
Also competing for Clear Falls High School, Reno is a two-time Texas 6A State Championship finalist. He took third in the 100 free and fifth in the 50 free as a junior and collected gold medals in both races at the UIL 6A Region 06 Championships.
His best times include:
- 50 free – 20.29
- 100 free – 44.17
- 200 free – 1:41.10
- 100 fly – 49.20
- 100 back – 50.16
