French Swimming Federation Bans Polyurethane Suits
PARIS, France, June 30. IN a press release distributed to the media yesterday, the French Swimming Federation (Federation Francaise de Natation – FFN), announced that it would follow only the original May 19 iteration of the FINA Approved Suit List.
The FFN expressed disappointment with FINA for its lack of clarity regarding the swimsuit approval process, and will not recognize the June 22 version of the FINA Approved Suit List for any competitions taking place on French soil.
In a rough translation of the French press release, the FFN stated that while the organization has always complied with FINA rules in the past, the FFN does not condone the situation occurring today within the international body of swimming, including decisions seemingly based on considerations outside of the sport itself.
France's federation also called FINA to action in the release stating that FINA needs a new mandate when it comes to how it regulates the sport of swimming.
