Franziska Hentke Vaults to 2nd in World in 200 Fly at German Nationals

Franziska Hentke cleared the first hurdle to making Germany’s 2016 Olympic team in the 200 fly.
She breezed under the qualifying standard (2:11.07) this morning at German Nationals with her world’s tenth best 2:07.49.
Tonight she was well ahead of the field again, finishing in 2:05.77, now the second best time in the world this year. She was also over three seconds faster than the German Olympic qualifying time.
Only Madeline Groves has been faster, with a 2:05.47 at the Australian Championships.
Martina van Berkel finished second in 2:08.50. Third place went to Julia Mrozinski with a 2:10.87.
