Four-Time Nevada State Champion Luke Hobson Verbally Commits to Longhorns’ Class of 2025
NEW COMMIT: Reno, Nevada’s Luke Hobson has announced his verbal pledge to the University of Texas and will join Anthony Grimm in Austin as a member of the Longhorns’ class of 2025.
One of the most versatile freestylers in the class, Hobson swims year-round with Lakeridge Swim Team and owns eight Junior National cuts or faster. This past summer, he earned a pair of best times at Junior Nationals after taking sixth in the 1500m free and seventh in the 200m free at Mount Hood Futures.
Last winter, he had a trio of top-20 finishes at Juniors West before going on to collect six golds at Far Westerns. A current junior at Reno High School, Hobson is a four-time Nevada 4A State Championship gold medalist in the 200 free and 500 free. He has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors twice in his career.
Regarding his commitment, he said:

Hobson has seen some big time drops in a short period of time, shaving 37 seconds in the mile, 19 in the 1000 free, six in the 500 free, and two in the 100/200 free last season alone. Combined with his versatility, his quick rate of improvements will bode well for the Longhorns and Hobson will surely find himself in a number of different events throughout his college career.
