Four-Time Louisiana DIII State Champion Chris Richardson Verbals to Georgia Tech for 2022-23
NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Chris Richardson of Baton Rouge, La. has handed Georgia Tech their first verbal commitment for the fall of 2022.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Georgia Tech. I want to thanks my family, friends, and coaches who helped me along the way. Go jackets!”
A talented backstroker and freestyler, Richardson does his club swimming with Crawfish Aquatics and notched two best times at the Toyota U.S. Open in November. Last winter, he was the runner-up in the 200 back at Louisiana Seniors and placed 10th in the 100m back at College Station Sectionals.
In Summer 2019, he finaled in the 200m back at Austin Sectionals before going on to collect three gold medals at the Louisiana LCM 13&O Championships.
His best times include:
- 50 back – 23.58
- 100 back – 49.58
- 200 back – 1:49.00
- 200 free – 1:39.19
Currently a junior at University Laboratory School, Richardson is a six-time individual Louisiana DIII State Championship finalist. He won the 200 free and was the runner-up in the 100 back as a junior while winning both of those events during his sophomore season.
He has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for his efforts in the pool and in the classroom.
