Fordham Adds Olympic Trials Qualifier Harry Homans as Assistant Coach

Fordham on Tuesday hired former USC swimmer Harry Homans as an assistant coach to Tom Wilkens.

A native of Barrington, R.I., Homans completed his career at USC for four seasons after starting at the University of Georgia in 2019-20.

“I am super excited to begin my coaching career as a part of the Fordham Swimming & Diving program,” Homans said in a university statement. “I want to thank Tom Wilkens for giving me the chance to showcase my skills and knowledge for the sport of swimming, while being able to mentor and support the next generation of Division I athletes. I cannot wait to become a member of the Ramily and I am ready to positively contribute to the next chapter of the Fordham Swimming & Diving program.”

Homans swam at NCAAs in 2021 after qualifying in 2020. He finished 18th in the 800 free relay at NCAAs in 2021. He made the A final at Pac-12s each of the last two years individually, finishing seventh in the 200 fly in 2023 and eighth in 2024. Homans also swam at U.S. Olympic Trials in both 2021 and 2024.

At Georgia, Homans won bronze medals at the SEC Championships in both the 800 free relay and 200 fly in 2020.

While at USC, Homans began coaching at the Spartans of La Canada club, from March-Aug. 2023 with the senior group. He also swam in his native Rhode Island with the junior group of Bluefish Swim Club in his senior year of high school. Homans earned a bachelor’s degree in law, history and culture in 2024.

“I am absolutely thrilled that Harry is joining our staff and I can’t wait to work with him,” Wilkens said. “I am impressed by his unique combination of experience, energy, and enthusiasm … and I believe he will have a significant and positive impact on our program.”
