Florida Sweeps SEC Weekly Honors with Six Honorees

Florida had one individual recognized in each of the six categories of the SEC Weekly Honors, announced by the conference on Tuesday.

The men’s side was a clean sweep, with Josh Liendo as the swimmer of the week, Conor Gesing as the diver and Johnny Marshall as the freshman.

Florida’s Emma Weyant shared female swimmer of the week with Arkansas’s Alessia Ferraguti. Ana Monroy of Florida and Montserrat Gutierrez Lavenant of LSU were the co-divers of the week on the women’s side, while Bella Sims was the top freshman.

Liendo won the 50 free and 100 fly in the Gators’ win over Virginia. The Canadian Olympian posted B cuts in both, the 50 free time of 19.43 third in the nation and the 46.99 100 fly eighth. He also helped the Gators’ 400 free relay and 200 medley relay to wins.

Gesing swept both diving events against the Cavaliers. The freshman won 1-meter with a score of 364.0. He tallied 407.93 on 3-meter.

Marshall made his college debut with a win in the 200 backstroke against Virginia in 1:45.82. He also finished second in the 100 back. His leadoff legs helped the 400 free relay and 200 medley relay win their races.

Weyant posted three NCAA B cut times in the Gators’ loss to No. 1 Virginia, her former college team. She won the 400 individual medley in 4:07.51, the fastest time in the nation this season. Her 4:39.22 in the 500 free also claimed a win and the No. 2 time in the country this year. She finished second in the 200 free in 1:45.16.

Monroy swept diving against Virginia. The Mexican international scored 319.05 on 1-meter in her first college meet, then tallied 318.38 to win 3-meter.

Sims, the Olympian from Nevada, won the 200 back against Virginia in 1:52.49, an NCAA B cut and the fastest time in the nation this year. She finished second in the 100 back in 51.79 and second in the 100 fly in 52.09. She also anchored the team’s 400 free relay in a 47.99 split.

Ferraguti led Arkansas to a narrow win over LSU. She won the 100 back in 1:01.33 and the 200 back in 2:12.93, both NCAA B cuts. She helped the Razorbacks win the 200 medley relay and finished second in the 400 free relay.

Gutierrez Lavenant won both diving events against Arkansas. A Mexican international, the senior scored 342.60 on 3-meter and 300.23 on 1-meter.
