Florida State Record Holder Will Heck Verbally Commits to NC State for 2023
NEW COMMIT: One of the top recruits in the Class of 2023 is officially off the market: Jacksonville, Florida native and Olympic Trials qualifier Will Heck has verbally committed to NC State University.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“It is with great pleasure that I am proud to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at NC State university! Thank you to everyone that has helped me on this crazy journey. GO PACK♦️♦️!”
The top breaststroker in his year, Heck does his club swimming with Bolles School Sharks and won the 200m breast at Huntsville Futures this past summer where he also earned silver in the 100m breast. Back in March, he collected four gold medals the Florida Senior North Championships after taking third in the 200m breast at Southern Zone Sectionals.
His best times include:
- 100 breast – 53.73
- 200 breast – 1:57.16
- 200 IM – 1:49.27
- 100 back – 50.50
- 100 fly – 49.94
- 100 free – 46.27
- 50 free – 21.18
Currently a junior at the Bolles School, Heck broke the state record in the 100 breast at the Florida 1A State Championships as a sophomore. He helped his team clinch their 33rd-straight championship crown last season, also taking fifth in the 50 free.
Even with just under two years to go before arriving on campus as a member of the Wolfpack’s Class of 2027, Heck would’ve ranked No. 4 on their roster last year in the 100 breast and No. 5 in the 200 breast. He will overlap with Nathan Kempiak and Sam Hoover.
