Florida State Champion Maeve Eckerman Lends Verbal to Georgia
NEW COMMIT: The University of Georgia has scored a new verbal commitment for the 2025-26 season and beyond from U.S. Open qualifier Maeve Eckerman of Venice, Florida.
Her older brother, Max Eckerman, is a rising sophomore at LSU.
She will join Kennedi Dobson and Hailey Dopson in Athens as a member of the Bulldogs’ Class of 2029.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Georgia!! I would like to thank my parents, coaches, and teammates for supporting me along the way. I’m so grateful for this opportunity that God has given me! Go dawgs!”
Eckerman does her club swimming with Sarasota Sharks and finished second in the 200 fly and third in the 200 IM at Florida Spring Senior Championships after winning the B-finals of the 100 free and 200 back at Southern Zone Seniors. She took 14th in the 200 back at Juniors East in December.
Her best times include:
- 100 free – 49.91
- 200 free – 1:47.87
- 100 back – 54.30
- 200 back – 1:56.84
- 100 fly – 55.98
- 200 fly – 2:00.03
- 200 IM – 2:00.34
Currently a junior at Venice Senior High School, Eckerman placed third in the 100 back and fourth in the 200 free at the 2023 Florida 4A State Championships. She earned gold in the 100 back and bronze in the 50 free at the state meet during her sophomore season.
She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors.
