Florida Collects Verbal Commit From Versatile Vanessa Pearl
Vanessa Pearl of Allen, TX has announced her commit to swim for the University of Florida as a member of the class of 2022. Pearl is a member of both the Metroplex Aquatics Club and McKinney Boyd High School swim team.
The 17-year-old trains under coach Brent Mitchell and was a 2016 Olympic Trials qualifier, where she competed in the 100 and 200 breast, along with the 200 and 400 IMs.
Pearl told Swimming World,
I’m extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for the University of Florida! Can’t wait to see my progress with the help of their amazing coaches! Go Gators!
Pearl’s best times include:
- 200 IM – 1:58.13
- 400 IM – 4:06.73
- 100 breast – 1:00.32
- 200 breast – 2:08.51
Considered to be one of the top IMer’s for the graduating class of 2018, Pearl is sure to be a point collector for the University of Florida at NCAA’s. Her strength arrives in the 400 IM and 200 breast with both of her best times putting her within scoring range in the NCAA. Her 400 IM best time of 4:06.73 would’ve finished eighth at the 2017 NCAA Championships, while her 200 breast time of 2:08.51 would’ve sat just outside of the ‘A’ final.
With six of the eight 200 breast ‘A’ finalists graduating this year, Pearl enters as a strong contender.
