Florida Adds Alum John Hulvey to Coaching Staff
The University of Florida announced on Monday the addition of John Hulvey as a volunteer assistant coach.
A 2006 graduate of the Gators, Hulvey has been a coach for 15 years. He’s currently the head coach of Gator Swim Club in Gainesville. Hulvey is Gainesville born and bred, having attended Gainesville High School before his career as a Gator.
“John has tremendous experience throughout many different levels of swimming,” Florida coach Anthony Nesty said in a university statement. “Paired with his local ties and dedication to the University of Florida, we’re excited for the impact he will have this season.”
Before joining GSC, Hulvey coached for 11 years in Jacksonville, most recently as the head coach of Loggerhead Aquatics. He became a swimming and water polo coach at Coral Gables High School in Miami after graduating college. From there, he served as the head coach of Spartan Aquatic Club, a volunteer assistant at the University of North Florida and the head coach/owner of Storm Swim Club. He’s served on several Florida Zone Team staffs, worked with the Florida LSC and been a part of Florida All-Stars coaching staffs.
“I’m excited to be a part of the Florida staff and to help the Gators excel into the 2023 championships!”, Hulvey said.
Hulvey will help fill the void left last month when the program quietly parted ways with assistant coach Steve Jungbluth.
