Florida 4A State Championship Finalist Lockett Bowley Sends 2022 Verbal Commitment to Alabama
NEW COMMIT: The University of Alabama has received a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2022 from Junior National qualifier Lockett Bowley of Winter Park, Fla.
She will join Ana Fleming, Laci Black, Mackenzie Brandt, Kylee Grafmiller and Stella Grace Watts in Tuscaloosa as a member of Bama’s Class of 2026.
She told Swimming World:
“I am extremely honored and excited to officially announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic endeavors! Thank you to all of my coaches and especially Coach Joe! I’m forever grateful for the love and support of my family, friends and teammates! Also, thank you to Coach Ozzie for the opportunity and I’m thrilled to be a part of the Bama Family!”
Bowley, who does her club swimming with Blue Dolfins, most recently picked up four best times at the Florida Spring Championships after competing at the Toyota U.S. Open. In March 2020, she won the 200 fly at Plantation Sectionals.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.88
- 100 free – 50.64
- 200 free – 1:49.07
- 500 free – 4:56.01
- 200 fly – 1:59.06
- 200 IM – 2:06.12
- 400 IM – 4:28.65
Currently a junior at Winter Park High School, Bowley is a five-time individual Florida 4A State Championship finalist. She placed fifth in both the 100 and 200 free in 2020 while taking seventh in the 500 free and eighth in the 200 free during her sophomore season.
She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts in the pool and in the classroom.
The Crimson Tide is fresh off a historic season that included a fourth-place showing at the SEC Championships and a fifth-place finish at NCAAs. Alabama won the 4×100 freestyle relay at NCAAs, earning the school’s first-ever relay title in program history on the women’s side.
Margo Geer will replace Coley Stickels as head coach after the 2021 Olympic Games.
