Florida 2A State Champion Josh Hanks Selects Georgia Tech for 2021
NEW COMMIT: Coral Spring, Fla. native Josh Hanks has selected Georgia Tech to continue his academic and swimming career and will arrive on campus in the fall of 2021. He announced his decision via College Swimming.
He will join Antonio Romero, Leandro Odorici, Scott Haney, Mert Kilavuz, Berke Saka, Matt Steele, and Sean Simms in Atlanta as members of the Yellow Jackets’ class of 2025.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to Georgia Tech to continue my swimming and education! I want to thank my coaches, teammates, friends and family for all their support. Go Jackets!! ?”
A talented breaststroker and IMer, Hanks owns four Junior National standards and swims year-round with Pine Crest Swimming. He most recently placed 10th in the 100m breast at Plantation Sectionals after taking 20th in that event at Juniors East. Last summer, he finaled in two events at Greensboro Futures where he achieved a pair of best times.
His best times include:
- 100 breast – 55.40
- 200 breast – 2:04.22
- 200 IM – 1:49.86
- 50 free – 20.63
- 100 free – 47.16
Also competing for Pine Crest School, Hanks is a five-time Florida State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 100 breast and 200 IM at the 2A State meet as a junior while taking sixth and seventh, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season at the 1A Championships.
