Florida 1A State Finalist Ethan Maloney Commits to Virginia Tech
NEW COMMIT: Virginia Tech has added a new commitment for the fall of 2022 from Ethan Maloney of Lebanon, New Jersey.
He will arrive in Blacksburg as a member of the Hokies’ Class of 2026 along with Tanish Mathew, William Hayon, Carl Bloebaum, Landon Gentry, Aiken Do and Mitchell Stroud.
He told Swimming World:
“I am very proud and excited to announce that I will be pursuing my academic and athletic career at Virginia Tech! I wanted to thank my family, friends, and coaches for helping me through this crazy process! Can’t wait to be a HOKIE!!!!!”
Maloney does his club swimming with Bolles School Sharks and most recently earned bronze in the 100 breast at the Speedo Winter East Championships last month. Back in June, he earned seven best times at the Bolles Sharks TYR meet where he recorded three top-18 finishes.
His best times include:
- 50 free – 20.74
- 100 free – 45.60
- 100 fly- 49.29
- 100 breast – 53.74
- 200 IM- 1:52.78
Maloney now attends Bolles School and he placed third in the 100 breast and fifth in the 50 free at the 2021 Florida 1A State Championships.
Under head coach Sergio Lopez, the Hokies finished third overall in the team standings at the 2021 ACC Championships.
