FLASH! USA Set World Record In Women’s 4×200 Free Relay
The United States set a world record of 7:30.13 in the women’s 4x200m freestyle relay at short-course worlds in Budapest.
Alex Walsh led off in 1:53.25 before handing over to Paige Madden (1:53.18) and then Katie Grimes split 1:53.39 before a shuddering anchor leg of 1:50.31 from Claire Weinstein saw the quartet home and into the record books.
They finished 0.74 inside Australia’s WR of 7:30.87 from Melbourne 2022.
Hosts Hungary were second in 7:33.30 with Australia third in 7:33.60.
Weinstein split equaled flat start 200 Free record of Haughey. (1:50.31).
According to the USA Swimming database it was the fastest relay split in history by nearly a second.
