Flash! Thiago Pereira Sets 200 SCM IM World Record in Berlin

BERLIN, Germany, November 18. AFTER an inspired first day at the Berlin, Germany stop of the FINA World Cup series, Brazil's Thiago Pereira added to the legacy with a world record in the 200 SCM IM during the second day of swimming.
Pereira clocked a time of 1:53.14 to chop .17 seconds from Ryan Lochte's world record time of 1:53.31 set in Shanghai in 2006. Pereira posted splits of 24.86, 28.16, 33.12 and 27.00 on the way to the world record.
Meanwhile, New Zealand's Dean Kent took second in 1:57.79, while Lithuania's Vytautas Janusaitis placed third in 1:58.18.
