FLASH!! Ball State Men’s Swimming Saved!; Scholarships Eliminated
By Phil Kraus
July 16. BSU men's swimming and diving has been saved!
The decision was made today about the future of sports at Ball State University and that decision included keeping Men's Swimming and Diving.
BSU is also keeping Women's Gymnastics, Women's Field Hockey, and Men's Volleyball. Unfortunately, Men's Track & Field as well as Men's Cross Country will no longer be offered.
Men's Swimming and Diving will be combined with the women's team. Coach Bob Thomas and Coach Laura Seibold-Caudill will be named Co-Head Coaches. They will take a collective hit by losing both Graduate Assistants and the Diving Coach position will become a Graduate Assistant position. They will also lose $11,000 from the combined operating budgets and all men's scholarships will be phased out, as current athletes graduate. Men's volleyball will also lose some of its operating budget and some scholarships.
This is not perfect, but at least Men's Swimming and Diving has been saved.
