Five-Time Washington 2A State Finalist Sara Jones Commits to Concordia Irvine
NEW COMMIT: Sprinter Sara Jones of Lynden, Wash. has announced her commitment to continue her academic and swimming career at Concordia University Irvine beginning in the fall of 2021.
She will join Las Vegas, Nevada native Kendall Ruberio as a member of the Eagles’ Class of 2025.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to swim at CUI in the fall! I’m so blessed to have had amazing coaches and teammates the entire way. I cannot wait for the next four years in California! Go, Eagles!”
Jones, who does her club swimming with Bellingham Bay Swim Team, is one of the seven seniors on her swim team who have committed to swim at the collegiate level. Although she has swum competitively for five years, this her only her fifth month on BBST.
Her best times include:
- 100 fly – 1:00:16
- 100 free – 55.37
- 50 free – 24.61
Also competing for Lynden High School, Jones is a five-time individual Washington 2A State Championship finalist. She finished fifth in the 100 fly and seventh in the 100 free as a junior while taking ninth in both the 50 and 100 free as a sophomore.
Jones will add valuable depth both individually and on relays when she arrives on campus at the start of the 2021-22 season. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 50 free at the 2020 Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships.
