Finns Honor Aussie Coach, Michael Ursu
HELSINKI, Finland, January 2. THE Finnish Swimming Association has awarded Australian Michael Ursu the association's Golden Medal for his contributions in the development of the Finnish swimming.
Coach Ursu, who is the executive director of the Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association (ASCTA) was honored for two primary contributions:
coach education and learn-to-swim programs for the clubs.
Petteri Laine, chief of coaching for the FSA, thanked
Ursu for "his advice and vision.
"Through his efforts, Finnish coaches became acquainted with top Australian coaches and laearned how elite swimming programs worked in Australia. In the past six years, his guidance has been essential as Finland has taken steps toward excellence in international-level swimming as well as developing the
domestic club structure," Laine said.
