ROME, Italy, July 20. RUSSIA kept on rolling during the synchronized swimming portion of the FINA World Championships held in Rome.
Natalia Ishchenko continued to reign as queen of the sport with a dominant outing in the solo technical routine. She tallied 98.667 points with 49.5 from overall impression and 49.167 from execution.
Spain's Gemma Mengual placed second for silver with 97.833 points. She amassed 49 points from overall impression and 48.833 from execution.
Meanwhile, Canada's Marie-Pier Boudreau-Gagnon snatched bronze with 96 points. She collected matching totals of 48 points for both overall impression and execution.
Russia also led the way in the duet technical preliminary round. Anastasia Davydova and Svetlana Romashina tallied 98.833 points, coming from 49.5 points of overall impression and 49.33 from execution.
Spain's Andrea Fuentes and Mengual qualified third with 97.5 points. They tallied 49 points in overall impression and 48.5 in execution.
