Two-time defending World Champion Camille Lacourt will compete in the 50 back at the FINA World Championships (his last race before retirement), and so will veterans Xu JiayuJunya Koga and Matt Grevers.

But the man with the top time in the world so far this year is none of those guys—it’s 19-year-old American Justin Ress, who took down Grevers and 100/200 back Olympic gold medalist Ryan Murphy at U.S. Nationals last month. That means Murphy won’t swim the 50 back in Budapest.

Read below to see what Swimming World’s trio of experts think will happen in Budapest. David RiederJohn Lohn and Andy Ross will each offer their predictions for who will finish on the podium.
