FINA Short Course World Championships: Cameron van der Burgh Dominates 100 Breast Final

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, December 16. CAMERON van der Burgh won the 100 breast title with a wire-to-wire win and a championship record time of 56.80.

Van der Burgh was well off his world record of 55.61, but beat the meet record of 56.17 set in yesterday's semifinals by Mike Alexandrov. It's just a tick off Felipe Silva's world-leading time of 56.79 swum in September. The silver medal went to Italy's Fabio Scozzoli with a 57.13, while Silva placed third with a 57.39.

Alexandrov (57.42), Brenton Rickard (57.79), Daniel Gyurta (58.16) and Vladislav Polyakov (58.66) also placed in the championship final. Japan's Naoya Tomita was disqualified.
