Femke Heemskerk, Ranomi Kromowidjojo Shine On Day 1 Of Indian Ocean Meet
Femke Heemskerk and Ranomi Kromowidjojo both had strong outings on day one of the short course meter Indian Ocean meet.
Femke Heemskerk won the women’s 200-meter free with a time of 1:53.60. That’s just off her fourth-ranked time of 1:52.53 from the French Championships.
Hungary’s Zsuzsanna Jakabos placed second in 1:58.95 with Alizee Morel earning third in 2:00.21.
The Netherlands’ Ranomi Kromowidjojo snared the women’s 50-meter back title in 27.48 with Czech’s Simona Baumrtova taking second in 27.51. Heemskerk placed third in 27.97.
Kromowidjojo doubled up with a 58.54 in the women’s 100-meter fly. Lara Grangeon took second in 59.84 with Emma Morel earning third in 1:01.07.
Jakabos won the women’s 400-meter IM in 4:34.63 with Barbora Zavadova finishing second in 4:48.38. Oceane Cassignol took third in 5:04.02.
Lorys Bourelly topped the men’s 200-meter free in 1:46.28 with Benoit Debast claiming second in 1:48.38. Ferry Weertman put up a 1:48.63 for third.
Gabor Balog picked up the men’s 50-meter back title in 24.73, while Pierre-Yves Desprez placed second in 25.54. Jan Sefl took third in 25.71.
Grangeon won the women’s 200-meter breast in 2:25.09 with Martina Moravcikova placing second in 2:29.44. Zavadova snared third in 2:32.27.
Anthony Pannier touched in 2:18.57 to win the men’s 200-meter breast. Hugo Jeanne Rose finished second in 2:22.16 with Jonathan Chung Yee claiming third in 2:22.26.
Krisztian Takacs pocketed the men’s 100-meter fly crown in 52.75 with Sefl placing second in 53.85. Yannick Chatelain took third in 54.06.
Chatelain claimed the men’s 400-meter IM in 4:18.86. Pannier (4:23.66) and Simon Bachmann (4:39.56) took second and third.
